Remembrance Page
As part of the original fund-raising campaign for Lest We Forget, donors were offered the chance to create a digital plaque in remembrance of someone from the 1914-1918 generation. This could be a family member, or someone they had heard of who had inspired them.
The following provides the details of those people we wish to commemorate.
Guy Compton 1894-1917, and Rex Compton, 1897-1917
"Remembering my Dad's older brothers, who died when he was a small boy."
Frank Ford Feltham, 1889-1958
“Hardworking, sober, trustworthy and reliable. An excellent farrier with considerable experience, ...has given every satisfaction"
James Thomas Wright, 1882-1964
"Thank you for the fun and love you gave both to your children but also to me"
Arthur Francis Carter, 1893-1977
"He was the husband of Elsie (1892 – 1988), father of Gordon (b. 1925) and grandfather of David (b.1980)."
Charles Walker, 1886-1917
"Son of Robert A. and Selina Walker, of 20 William Street, Hunslet, Leeds."
Thomas Setterington, 1895-1917
"Son of a Yorkshire farmer, and now, resting at peace amongst the hills and trees of Varennes Military Cemetery."
